Hyde Garden the background for concerts, movies and Shakespeare this weekend.
Tonight August 4th at 6:00 The Soft Touch Dance Band will perform at Hyde Playground and at dusk we will have the movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.
Sunday August 6th at 7:30 Commonwealth Shakespeare Company will be performing The Tempest at Hyde Bandstand.
Shakespeare in the Park tonight, July 30 7:30 pm at Hyde Playground. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company will perform Henry IV, Part 1.
This Friday July 28th at Hyde Playground Summer in the Highlands will have the the Black Velvet Band playing Irish music at 6:00 pm followed by the outdoor movie Storks at dusk. Also if it rains the concert and movie goes inside the Hyde Gym.
On July 30th we are having the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company perform Henry the IV Part One. The event begins at 7:30pm at the playground.
On August 6th Commonwealth Shakespeare Company will have an encore performance at the Hyde, performing The Tempest.

This Friday July 14th at Hyde Playground Summer in the Highlands will have the the jazz band the Gringo Kings at 6:00 pm followed by the outdoor movie Mrs Dobtfire at dusk. Also if it rains the concert and movie goes inside the Hyde Gym.
Also on July 14th we are having a fundraiser to support Summer in the Highlands. Whole Foods stores at Four Corners and Newtonville will be having Good Will Grill cooking and selling hamburgers and veggie burgers from 11:00 to 1:00 at both stores. All proceeds for buying lunch at the grill will go the Summer in the Highlands.
Tonight June 23rd the Reminisants will be playing oldies at 6:00 and at dusk the movie “Finding Dory”
On Sunday June 25th at 5:30 we will have a teddy bear concert and picnic with Steve Labonte at Hyde Bandstand. Bring your own teddy bear and picnic.
Summer in the Highlands 2017 starts tonight June 9th 6:00 pm. with Studio 2 The Beatles Band playing at 6:00 and the Movie “Sing” at Dusk at Hyde Playground!
Also the 42nd Newton Highlands Village Day is just two days away! Here is some information in advance of the event!
- Lincoln St will be closed to traffic from 9am – 5pm, (except for vendors who can unload until 10am)
- The Village Day 5K Road Race starts at 10am. Register for the race online or on race day starting at 8am at the Hyde. First 150 signups get a free tech race T-shirt (designed by Eunice Feller!)
- We are ordering 100 folding chairs for your comfort.
- This year we are introducing food trucks – Falafel/Mediterranean and Trolley Dogs (all beef hot dogs and fries). They will be set up in the parking lot near the Brookline Bank Fun Zone. We will have some tables and chairs there so you can eat comfortably.
- Other food options: Anna’s Taqueria, Bread and Chocolate, Newton Pizza House, Walnut Market, O’Hara’s, Fleck Coffee and Indulge! will all be open.
- There will be two stages of live music. Headliners include Stacey Peasley, Ebinho Caroso, and Newton’s own Chris Pitts who will lead a jazz jam at the East stage. Check the full schedule here.
- FREE face painting, caricature, bounce houses
- The Ligerbots will be coming and kids can try out a robot!
- We already have over 65 vendors signed up for booths.

Summer in the Highlands starts Friday night June 9th at 6:00 with the Beatles Tribute Band Studio Two followed by the family movie “Sing” at dusk.
The full Summer in the Highlands schedule will be up on wwww.hydecenter.org next week. We have another great summer at Hyde Playground with concerts, movies and outdoor theater performances.
‘Newton Taiwan Day’ Saturday May 6th: Festivities kick off at 11:30 pm with a Dragon Dance starting at the Hyde Community Center, continuing down Lincoln which will be closed to traffic, and then back to the Hyde Center, 90 Lincoln Street, Newton Highlands. After the Dragon Dance the fun continues at the Hyde Playground, where there will be a dance performance, craft projects for kids, and cultural activities for adults.
