The Newton Highlands Community Development Corporation is a self-supporting, nonprofit organization that initiates, facilitates and sponsors activities designed to foster a vital sense of community in Newton Highlands. The Hyde Community Center serves as a catalyst for community-building–introducing Highlands residents to each other and giving people an opportunity to work together on programs and activities serving the diverse interests of members of the Newton Highlands neighborhood. The Center collaborates with other community-building organizations in the Highlands to offer activities that are located not only at the Center itself, but elsewhere, in Newton and beyond. The Center is more than a building–it is the Heart of the Highlands.

Measure for Measure
directed by Jennie Israel

Vienna has fallen into disarray and debauchery– and the Duke has left the city! Will the strict Lord Angelo be able to clean up the city in the Duke’s absence? Will the city’s pimps and mistresses escape arrest from a band of silly, overzealous law enforcement? Can a noble nun and the disguised Duke work for good to save an innocent man and reexamine the meaning of true justice? William Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure tells a dissonant tale of the virtue of mercy, the absurdity of ineffective law, and the inner-demons that lurk under the veil of righteousness.
