The Newton Highlands Community Development Corporation is a self-supporting, nonprofit organization that initiates, facilitates and sponsors activities designed to foster a vital sense of community in Newton Highlands. The Hyde Community Center serves as a catalyst for community-building–introducing Highlands residents to each other and giving people an opportunity to work together on programs and activities serving the diverse interests of members of the Newton Highlands neighborhood. The Center collaborates with other community-building organizations in the Highlands to offer activities that are located not only at the Center itself, but elsewhere, in Newton and beyond. The Center is more than a building–it is the Heart of the Highlands.

Think About the Hyde Community Center During #GivingTuesday

Support the Hyde Community Center on the 50th Anniversary of our building 1967 to 2017 on this #GivingTuesday.

The Hyde Community Center continues to support the improvements at the Hyde Playground, Hyde Playground Garden, Hyde Bandstand and next April with the City of Newton replacing the the Hyde Playground play structures. The Hyde Community Center also funds community programming such as Summer in the Highlands, Senior Yoga, Toddler Playgroup, Drop in Basketball and Volleyball and other community events. We are offering neighbors the opportunity to purchase engraved bricks in the garden walkway. The engraved bricks will raise funds, beautify the garden and give a permanent gift to the Newton Highlands Community. Bricks can be purchased for either $150 or $250 each and can be engraved with a name, message or special occasion. To purchase a brick please go to the Hyde website www.hydecenter.org and download the brick order form and add contact info at bottom and submit it with check made payable to NHCDC and mail to Hyde Community Center P.O. Box 610171 Newton Highlands, MA 02461.

For more information, email director@hydecenter.org or call John Rice at 617-201-7088.

The NHCDC/Hyde Community Center is a charitable organization established under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3.

Hyde Story Slam September 9th 7:00 Hyde Bandstand

Hyde Bandstand Nomad Story Slam  –  Newton’s Nomadic Theater will be presenting one of it’s Nomad Story Slams Saturday September 9th at 7 PM at the Hyde Playground bandstand on Lincoln St in Newton Highlands.

If you haven’t been before, you shouldn’t miss it.  These nights of story telling are inspired by the Moth Radio Hour.  Anybody can come and throw their name in the hat to tell a true story.  They should be roughly five minutes long, no notes, just let it rip.

Come tell a story yourself or come and listen to fabulous stories.
