Celebrating 11 Years at the Hyde Bandstand

On Friday evening, June 7, during our first concert and movie of the summer, the Hyde hosted a special ceremony during the band’s 7PM break to mark the 11th anniversary of the Hyde Bandstand.

In 2013, Commodore Builders and several other vendors donated their services to significantly reduce the cost of building the Hyde Bandstand, a project that would have otherwise been out of our financial reach as a small community nonprofit. John Rice presented plaques and formally thanked the team that designed and built the Hyde Bandstand:

  • Commodore Builders and its president, Joe Albanese

  • George Schnee, Schnee Architects

  • Steve Siegel, Siegel Structural Engineers

This was the perfect time for our community to thank those who made the Hyde Bandstand possible since it has just undergone a small renovation. Over time, water coming off the roof had damaged the ramp behind the bandstand. Within the last week, Commodore replaced the support beams and ramp boards. They also added a new drainage system to divert water away from the bandstand and its ramp to ensure we can continue to enjoy free, family-friendly summer events for years to come. Commodore performed all of this work pro-bono.

We had a great turnout for this special event. Our thanks to Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, Ward 5 City Councilor Bill Humphrey, and Ward 6 City Councilor Martha Bixby for joining us. Great to see everyone at the Hyde, the Heart of the Highlands!
