Annual Soup Social brings warmth to cold winter night
The community came out to The Hyde on January 25 to enjoy the annual Newton Highlands Soup Social, a free community event featuring hot gourmet soups and crusty breads that warm up a cold winter night. We brought the event indoors this year due to the extremely cold weather. The gym was filled with people of all ages enjoying the food, music and the opportunity to see neighbors and meet new people. There was dancing to Surefire Band—even some of our elected officials showed off their dance floor moves! On Lincoln Street, community members enjoyed Brighter Ignited Interactive Art, an illuminated and traveling art exhibit that activates light from the community and encourages us to explore how we can stand up for what we believe in. We are grateful to the local restaurants whose donations made this such a delicious gathering:
Soup from O’Hara’s Food & Spirits, 57 Lincoln Kitchen, Dunn Gaherin’s Food & Spirits, New England Soup Factory, Grape Leaf, Cabot’s, Rox Diner, Farm Grill & Rotisserie, Pressed Café, and Otake Sushi Bistro. Ice cream from Cabot’s, and hot chocolate from Cacao.
The Newton Highlands Soup Social is part of Newton Community Pride’s WinterFEST.
